Consolidated Property Services provides services across multiple sectors such as commercial, retail, education and industrial. These services include waste management. Their processes are governed by their strong belief in the importance of incorporating sustainable practices into every aspect of their operations. They share this knowledge with interested customers so together, they can protect and preserve our natural environment.
The Challenge
When it comes to waste management in large commercial buildings, it’s challenging to identify the source and type of waste generated – especially when there are multiple tenants occupying the building.
Consolidated Property Services wanted to make it easier for their customers to monitor and reduce their waste so they approached NWI Group for advice.
The Solution
NWI Group recommended the Industrial Waste Management System (iWM) because it tracks and records waste by the:
- Type of waste (e.g. recyclable, general)
- Tenant and/or floor
- Day and time
The iWM has a low profile weighing platform to make it easy for cleaning teams to place the wheelie bins onto the scales. These weighing platforms are extremely versatile – accommodating bins up to 1100 litres in size. In addition, the system is easy to retrofit into existing buildings which means any customer can join Consolidated Property Services’ waste management program.
Using an intuitive and simple-to-use touch screen terminal, the weight and type of waste is recorded by the iWM. The System can also record if the waste is contaminated or uncontaminated. If required, a camera can be installed to photograph the type of waste while it is being weighed.
To make the weighing process faster and more seamless for cleaning teams, each bin can be tagged to identify the tare (empty) weight, waste type and client ID. This provides accurate waste tracking and waste stream identification. It also reduces the risk of human error.
All data is recorded and stored locally on each iWM unit so Consolidated Property Services can provide customers with accurate reports on their waste streams. For remote access and monitoring 24/7, some customers choose to use a secure cloud service.
The Outcome
Both Consolidated Property Services and their customers have enthusiastically embraced the iWM System with units installed in multiple sites around Australia.
With technicians in every state, NWI Group are able to calibrate, service and repair every iWM unit. It’s this comprehensive after sales service that was an important factor in the decision to choose the iWM system from NWI Group.
