Project Scope: NWI Group installed an unmanned Titan Weighbridge with advanced automation for a Kalbarri mine, integrating axle and gross weight measurements with FlexPoint WinWeigh software.
Overview
NWI Group successfully completed an unmanned and automated weighbridge project for a prominent mine site in Kalbarri, Western Australia. The project involved the implementation of a Titan Weighbridge construction, operated by a Bilanciai DD2050 Weighing Terminal, and connected to the FlexPoint WinWeigh Mine & Quarry Software package. This advanced system allowed the weighbridge to provide accurate group axle weighs and a total gross weight, all while operating in an unattended configuration.
Challenges
Remote Location: The mine site in Kalbarri presented a logistical challenge due to its remote location, located seven hours away from Perth. This meant that transporting equipment, personnel, and ensuring timely support and maintenance would require careful planning and coordination.
Unattended Configuration: Implementing an unattended weighbridge configuration required integrating automated systems and software, ensuring they worked seamlessly to accurately measure and record weights. Overcoming technical challenges and potential software compatibility issues were critical to the success of the project.
The Solution
NWI proposed that the best solution for the site was our Titan Weighbridge construction. The weighbridge is operated by a Bilanciai DD2050 Weighing Terminal, connected to our FlexPoint WinWeigh Mine & Quarry Software package. This allows the weighbridge to provide group axle weighs along with a total gross weight, all while completing the operation in an unattended configuration.
The project was not short of its own challenges. Unfortunately, the concrete foundations were constructed too short by about 70mm which warranted a second trip to Kalbarri by our team. The solution to the issue was to cut the final concrete deck and then cast in plates for the load cells on the affected side.
Outcome
The unmanned and automated weighbridge project in Kalbarri, WA, was a resounding success. The implementation of the Titan Weighbridge construction, combined with the Bilanciai DD2050 Weighing Terminal and FlexPoint WinWeigh Mine & Quarry Software, enabled accurate and efficient weight measurements in an unattended configuration.
Despite the logistical challenges posed by the remote location, the completion of this project showcased NWI Group’s expertise in delivering innovative solutions even in challenging environments. The mine site in Kalbarri can now benefit from the advanced capabilities of the unmanned weighbridge, improving operational efficiency and accuracy in weighing processes.
