Solar-Powered Centurion Steel Weighbridge Improves Efficiency for Cattle Farm

Project Info

Client: A WA cattle farm

Date: May 2023

Project Scope: NWI Group installed a 36m solar-powered, NMI-verified Centurion weighbridge at a remote cattle farm near Perth, capable of handling loads up to 120 tonnes.

Overview

NWI Group successfully installed a weighbridge at a remote cattle farm located east of Perth, Western Australia. The newly installed Centurion weighbridge, measuring 36m in length, is constructed entirely of steel, capable of accommodating loads of up to 120 tonnes, and is verified by the National Measurement Institute (NMI). A notable feature of this installation is the weighbridge’s complete reliance on solar power.

Challenges

NWI Group faced a number of challenges that impacted this project.

Remote Location:
The farm’s isolated location posed logistical challenges, making it imperative to plan and execute the installation meticulously. Ensuring timely delivery of equipment, personnel, and ongoing support required careful coordination.

Power Supply:
Given the remote nature of the site, ensuring a reliable and sustainable power source for the weighbridge presented a challenge. Overcoming potential power supply limitations while maintaining uninterrupted operations was crucial.

NWI Group proposed the installation of a Centurion weighbridge, renowned for its robust steel construction and exceptional load-bearing capacity. This solution offered the farm a durable and reliable weighing system suited for their specific needs.

To address the power supply challenge, NWI Group equipped the weighbridge with solar panels, enabling it to operate efficiently with renewable energy. The incorporation of lithium batteries further ensured continuous operation, even during periods of low sunlight.

Benefits and Results

The farm now possesses a reliable, innovative weighbridge. Equipped with solar panels and two lithium batteries, the weighbridge can operate efficiently and reliably even in the harsh and remote conditions of the Western Australian outback, functioning around the clock.

Beyond its sturdy construction and sustainable power supply, the new weighbridge incorporates various features to enhance functionality and user-friendliness. For instance, the customer has the convenience of remotely monitoring weighbridge readings in real-time, enabling them to track weights remotely.

This installation marks a significant accomplishment for NWI Group and serves as a pivotal milestone for the farm. By investing in a high-quality, dependable, and technologically advanced weighbridge solution, the farm can now streamline and optimize its cattle operations more effectively than ever before.

With NWI Group’s unwavering dedication to quality and customer service, the farm can rest assured that they will receive continued support to thrive in the years ahead.
