Overview
Toowoomba Regional Council has once again turned to NWI Group, a leading provider of weighing solutions, for their latest project. NWI Group has successfully supplied and installed three new Titan concrete weighbridges across two different waste facilities in the region. With a long-standing partnership between NWI Group and the council, this project strengthens their commitment to delivering accurate and reliable weighing systems.
Project Objectives:
Toowoomba Regional Council faced the challenge of implementing accurate and reliable weighing systems across two waste facilities in the region. They needed robust weighbridges capable of handling heavy-duty operations and providing precise weight measurements for a variety of vehicles.
The construction of weighbridges for Toowoomba Regional Council posed unique challenges due to the presence of black soil in the installation area. The soil lacked the necessary strength to support the weighbridge structure, necessitating careful strategic planning.
To overcome this, NWI Group implemented a specialised design approach. The civil works, foundations, and weighbridge structure were planned to accommodate the unique soil conditions. The design involved digging out the foundations and going extra deep into the soil to reach a more stable layer that could support the weighbridge adequately.
Benefits and Results
The installation of the Titan concrete weighbridges, along with additional features such as load cell inspection hatches and control systems, resulted in a successful outcome for Toowoomba Regional Council.
The council now has modern weighing technology that enhances their operational efficiency. The weighbridges’ accuracy and reliability enable informed decision-making regarding load distribution, compliance with legal requirements, and revenue collection.
